Living Seed Today: Avoid Unhealthy Familiarity-Syndrome

Text: Matthew 13: 53-58

Seed word: And He did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith (Matthew 13:58 NIV).

Let us face it, our generation has adopted unhealthy familiarity with God, and because of that most of the gatherings are without the miraculous. As it is often said, familiarity breeds contempt. Everyone has an opinion. But miracles are divine, not the opinion of men.

Our text today highlights why Jesus was unable to do many miracles in His hometown because they knew his history, his mother, where he was born, and the circumstances of His birth. But what they failed to know is who Jesus really is and what the prophecy said He was sent to do, and importantly, the testimonies of what He has done in many places.

Miracles happen when we place our faith in God, that He will use His servants. But your familiarity with the man of God can dent your faith in God and hinder your miracles. The Bible says believe God and you will be established; believe His prophet, and you will prosper (2 Chronicles 20:20).

Another danger that we have these days is ascribing specialization to a servant of God and not God, who does miracles through them. That is why God has left some ministers because people have made god out of them.

The hallmark of a servant of God is his or her holy living lifestyle and obedience to God. Not the type of car he drives, the type of suits he wears, or even the circumstances of his birth or his grammar or diction.

It is important to know that God is real and that He continues to use His servants. Society may think otherwise, but the Bible says that those who come to God must believe that He is, and He is the rewarder of those who diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6).

Unbelief can hinder or limit you from experiencing the miraculous. Keep on believing in God, and your faith in Him will usher you into the miraculous.

God bless you.
